MASHRABIYA-crochet-curtains-pattern

Jali (jaali) and Mashrabiya are elements of traditional Indo-Islamic architecture that feature delicate organic, vegetal or geometrical ornaments carved in stone or wood.

The term Jaali is used in Central Asia – in India, Pakistan and the countries surrounding, while Mashrabia is used mostly in the Arabic world; from Iran, Iraq to Morocco and Andalusia (read more about Jaali and Mashrabia ).

In the course of the day, the movement of these patterns in silhouette across the floor enhances the pleasure of their intricate geometry. Here are a few stunning pieces of this art, so you know why I named my crochet curtains Mashrabiya 😊.

And here is my work that I gave as a present to a dearest person. 😊 I think this crochet decor gives an atmosphere of calm and serenity to this interior, makes it modern and unique, regardless of the fashion.

I invite you to crochet this beauty that will resemble a projecting window 😊

Detour Sweater: Crochet Pattern

***

You gave birth to a baby and you want her to be in best hands before she starts her independent life…

And that is how I feel about my new crochet sweater pattern – I would like to give “an early bird price” (44 % off the price) to active crocheters who cherish my patterns, love them, start crocheting them right away and don’t let them lay months and years in their online library (or forget them on an older computer). I want to see this baby grow, and that’s my way of showing love to these crocheters.

People buy hundreds of patterns because they look lovely, and they don’t finish them because they see other lovely patterns :)). Some crocheters like to support designers this way, but I don’t live from selling patterns. The early bird price minus all Paypal and Etsy fees does not cover one cup of cappuccino in my local café (and probably in yours too :)), so prices for crochet patterns are really peanuts. I really enjoy seeing your completed projects, that is why I offer motivating CAL processes.

The best way of supporting pattern designers is crocheting their patterns and not buying them in tonnes :).

That is also the reason of why I don’t give discounts on multiple patterns – I want to save your money and not lengthen your never-ending queue of patterns :).

I offer two price options:

$4.75 – early bird price for those who start crocheting right away and share photos of their WIP (price for CAL in September-October 2019)

$8.50 – normal price for those who collect crochet patterns in their library and never share their WIP photos (price from October 2019)

Prices are subject to VAT in some countries.

Design elements:

This project will be worked in the round without seams. The raised back and bust darts create a better fit, while the stretchy fabric will feel like a second skin. This sweater is designed without a humpback that is so common in circular yoke sweaters.

SOUTHERN CROSS Top Crochet pattern – published!

*****

Back from holiday and with already published crochet pattern! 😊

And it was the best crochet thing for the beach! 👌

Special thanks to my testers @crochet_uk.co.uk, @grootenancyde, @lookingforbestthings

Mel from @crochet_uk.co.uk has even crocheted it with her own handmade gradient yarn!

  • I love creating interesting names for my patterns – it gives a feeling of completion to my work and a great sense of satisfaction. This time I named my pattern Southern Cross TOP (or Crux TOP) – after a constellation centered on 4 bright stars in the southern sky in a bright portion of the Milky Way. It is among the most easily distinguished constellations and is present on the flags of Australia, Brazil, New Zealand, Papua New Guinea, Samoa. I can’t wait to wear this top while strolling down the streets of Melbourne and Sidney at night and gaze at the stars with my loved one. It will be such a romantic and educational journey!
  • The bright stars in Crux were known to the Ancient Greeks, where Ptolemy regarded them as part of the constellation Centaurus. They were entirely visible as far north as Britain in the 4th millennium BC. However, the precession of the equinoxes gradually lowered the stars below the European horizon, and they were eventually forgotten by the inhabitants of northern latitudes. By 4th century the stars in the constellation we now call Crux never rose above the horizon throughout most of Europe. Dante may have known about the constellation in the 14th century, as he describes it in his Divine Comedy.

This crochet pattern includes detailed tutorial in English with charted and written explanations for crocheting every row, as well as photos of the tricky parts (18 pages in total). The pattern is written in American crochet terms.

The width of first 13 rows is considered as gauge and depends on the chosen size.

This crochet pattern is given for bust circumference 83-90 cm (32.5’’-35.5’’). I have included suggestions on how big should be your gauge if you wish to crochet this top for bust circumference 92-99 cm (36’’-38.5’’) and 101-108 cm (39.5’’-42’’). In this case you will need to use slightly thicker yarn and/or bigger hook.

Cotton for size XS-S: thread number 10 / Lace / 3 ply / 560 m in 100 gr / 616 yards in 3.5 oz

PROPORTIONS: Dress or Top

Our intrinsic sense of what we consider beautiful often comes from symmetry and proportion. We often notice that some crochet garments make us look great and feel young, while others make our figures heavier. No design or color can make us look perfect if the proportions are wrong.

P.SOne crocheter mentioned that I should wear undergarments – actually I do have it in every photo :).

Design elements:

In this dress I tried to change the perception of my rectangular man-alike figure – combined feminine details like shell motifs that provided softer touch to my broad shoulders with triangles that optically created the proportional hourglass figure. The horizontal lines added more interest to the whole A-line garment, while the fringe-trimmed bottom created a moves-with-you modern silhouette.

This crochet pattern is provided for sizes:

XS with bust circumference 78-84 cm (31-33’’), hips up to 90 cm (35.5’’);
S with bust circumference 85-91 cm (33.5-36’’), hips up to 98 cm (38.5’’);
M with bust circumference 92-98 cm (36.5-38.5’’), hips up to 106 cm (42’’);
L with bust circumference 99-106 cm (39-41.5’’), hips up to 110 cm (43.5’’);
XL with bust circumference 107-114 cm (42-45’’), hips up to 120 cm (47’’);
2XL with bust circumference 115-122 cm (45.5-48’’), hips up to 128 cm (50.5’’).

our INSTAGRAM

The length of the tunic is 60 cm = 23.6’’ for the size XS and 79 cm = 31’’for the size 2XL (the bigger is your size, the more rows are worked before the triangles meet). Dress is crocheted up to the length 96 cm = 38’’ (as the sample shown) or up to desired length.

Gauge: 19 dc x 8 rows = 10 x 10 cm (4’’ x 4’’).

Yarn: 200-250 m in 100 gr / 219-273 yards in 3.5 oz / producers label such a yarn as 8-10 ply (UK, AU), DK or Worsted weight (USA), 3-4, or Light-Medium (by yarnstandards.com), therefore please use yarn that gives the same width of the stitches (gauge)
