Crochet boho tunic PATTERN – crochet trends

My sister asked to crochet this boho tunic and why not to create a detailed step-by-step pattern?

Crochet PDF tutorial. You are sure to be the envy of everyone as you breeze through your day in this stunning crochet tunic!

Similar lace tunics were available in many fashion shops (like Free People, Forever, Topshop etc):

This project is not for crocheters who look for something quick and easy – the pattern is made for those experienced crocheters who love to create rare masterpieces. The tunic consists of many parts joined together and therefore requires some patience in completing all steps of the tutorial.

Crochet Boho Skirt – PATTERN

I was inspired by this Miss June boho skirt:

Crochet skirt pattern. Boho style is very trendy – you can count on this beautiful skirt with asymmetric hem to keep your look cool.  Crochet skirt pattern. Boho style is very trendy – you can count on this beautiful skirt with asymmetric hem to keep your look cool.

The original skirt has 4 seams (in the centre of front/back and along the sides), big round motifs were just cut along all seams. Most probably they just took an old table cloth, cut out four pieces and sewed them together without thinking that whole motifs in the centres would look more beautiful than cut like this.

My first thought was to create a layout that would allow me to place whole motifs only. I’ve experimented with different motifs and hat to omit small motifs worked in the original skirt (you see them between rows of big motifs). Small motifs are beautiful, but frankly speaking every small motif should be worked separately and I already had enough thread ends to hide, so I left them out of this crochet project.

So, here is my version of this skirt:

The skirt looks nice with slip and without, you can wear it with tops, jackets or tunics:

Crochet dress PATTERN – boho style

Here is another great pattern: country boho style crochet dress. Crafted from thick cotton, this dress hugs the body from top to bottom to centre all the attention on you. Looks very nice over a slip dress with Grecian sandals.

Crochet dress pattern for sizes S-2XL. The perfect crochet cover-up to wear on resorts. Crafted from thick cotton, this dress hugs the body from top to bottom to centre all the attention on you.

The original dress was offered in internet shops and sold a while ago. But if you like to crochet, it’s not a problem to make your own creation! : )

It took a while, creating this pattern for many sizes – based on the available photos shown above. This picture looks like a similar dress, however by careful analyzing you will find that motifs at hips and bust levels are different – they have four corners. While the beautiful boho dress in both prairies photos (shown above) has six corners in the motifs!

I fell in love with the prairies photos and created crochet dress pattern with hexagon motifs (seen at hips and bust levels in both photos). The dress can be made longer – I can imagine a gorgeous maxi boho dress with another panel of hexagon motifs (at knees for example). Or make a nice crochet tunic – omit several rows in the bottom.

Crochet top PATTERN – Odd Molly design

It’s been a long story about this crochet top designed by Swedish company Odd Molly. I came across these photos several years ago and saved them to my laptop. The initial price in http://www.bernardboutique.com/ was 228 Euro, currently the top is sold out. It was interesting to crack the round motif in front and draw HQ charts. And finally, after I had completed that central motif, why not to crochet the whole garment? : ))

It is peculiar that Odd Molly has officially published two versions of the top. The first one had more double crochet stitches in the main pattern and 19 sectors in the centre of the motif (I have numbered them in the 3rd photo). Shell motifs of the main pattern have 10 dc stitches (in US crochet terminology).

Designer crochet top PATTERN for sizes S-3XL detailed TUTORIAL for every row with HQ charts 19 arc2Designer crochet top PATTERN for sizes S-3XL detailed TUTORIAL for every row with HQ charts 19 arcs

The second version was probably done by another crocheter who did 21 sectors in the centre of the motif (I have numbered them in the 4th photo) and fewer double crochet stitches in the main pattern. Actually in the below photos you can see that central motif looks not as round and hangs more towards the bottom (maybe because of two additional sectors?). Shell motifs of the main pattern have 8 dc stitches.

Both versions have 16 sectors in the final row of the central motif.

There are some other differences, but since I liked the first version more, I reconstructured it. My project can be seen on Ravelry: http://www.ravelry.com/projects/CONCEPTcreative

Crochet tunic PATTERN – crochet trends

Recently one of my clients asked to create detailed step-by-step pattern for this tunic:

Tunic Crochet Pattern - Brighten up your wardrobe with this fun eye-catching crochet tunic. Beautiful creation and I’m sure you’ve seen several pages with free charts related to it. Well, you can ask, why bother if they are everywhere? : ). Let’s have a look.

First of all, when you try to follow available charts you’ll see that you need to chain 2 in the final row between petals. Chaining 3 as in those charts will make your motif rather curvy. Indeed original HQ photos show 2 chains between petals. Secondly, in charts for decreasing stitches in lace panels (you’ll see such panels at waist level between level of motifs) you can see that the angle of decrease is different than in the original. HQ photos of the original tunic show fewer rows in the panels than in free charts.

Sure an experienced crocheter would complete the tunic with available photos (and even without charts : )). What if you wish to crochet it with clear instructions for every row, reach diagrams and have complete layout of motifs in front of you?

Since I was thinking of a present for my friend this was a nice opportunity to make my permanent customer and my friend happy : ). I still have to crochet second sleeve, hide all ends in the tunic before I make photos and publish them on Ravelry. But the pattern is completed!

This tunic crochet pattern is provided for sizes US (4-8), UK (8-12), Europe (36-40) with bust 84-92 cm (33-36’’) and US (10-12), UK (14-16), Europe (42-44) with bust 94-100 cm (37-39.5’’).
