Recently one of my clients asked to create detailed step-by-step pattern for this tunic:

Beautiful creation and I’m sure you’ve seen several pages with free charts related to it. Well, you can ask, why bother if they are everywhere? : ). Let’s have a look.

First of all, when you try to follow available charts you’ll see that you need to chain 2 in the final row between petals. Chaining 3 as in those charts will make your motif rather curvy. Indeed original HQ photos show 2 chains between petals. Secondly, in charts for decreasing stitches in lace panels (you’ll see such panels at waist level between level of motifs) you can see that the angle of decrease is different than in the original. HQ photos of the original tunic show fewer rows in the panels than in free charts.

Sure an experienced crocheter would complete the tunic with available photos (and even without charts : )). What if you wish to crochet it with clear instructions for every row, reach diagrams and have complete layout of motifs in front of you?

Since I was thinking of a present for my friend this was a nice opportunity to make my permanent customer and my friend happy : ). I still have to crochet second sleeve, hide all ends in the tunic before I make photos and publish them on Ravelry. But the pattern is completed!

This tunic crochet pattern is provided for sizes US (4-8), UK (8-12), Europe (36-40) with bust 84-92 cm (33-36’’) and US (10-12), UK (14-16), Europe (42-44) with bust 94-100 cm (37-39.5’’).

      In a modular item like this, especially when the motifs are not placed horizontally/vertically it’s kind of difficult to make calculations for plus sizes. The easiest way (apart from using bigger hook/thicker yarn) would be crocheting front and back, then placing lace panels like the one you see in the centre along the sides of this tunic.
