Here is another great pattern worked out with my sister: maxi crochet skirt by Boston Proper

Several reviews about original skirt were controversial regarding size and length, but if you like to crochet, it’s not a problem to make your OWN creation that fits!

This beige skirt has 2 panels of square motifs. My sister has drawn necessary HQ diagrams for the motif, main pattern and the edge and provided calculations for different hips measurements – from 67 cm till 120 cm (from 26.5” till 47.2”). If your square gauge is slightly wider or shorter than 12 cm (4.7”) – don’t worry, you can continue crocheting this gorgeous skirt because she made calculations for the squares sized 11, 12 and 13 cm (4.3”- 5”). Based on them you will be able to crochet the skirt of the necessary width and length.

Why there are calculations in the tables? Because this way is simple to predict any individual result in the gauges and sizes! Some people crochet tight and some loose and it can not be regulated because the size and density of a crochet stitch is not only based on hook and yarn size but also on a person’s grip and wrist movement, which makes it tougher to regulate. Your personal gauge is just another one of those things that make you uniquely you.

But maybe you like the size of the square you just made? What is you are not keen to take another hook and crochet the next gauge? – Just measure the size of your square, if it’s any of 11, 12 or 13 cm (4.3”, 4.7”, 5”) – don’t stress, decide how many squares is needed and follow the instructions!
