Detour Sweater: Crochet Pattern

***

You gave birth to a baby and you want her to be in best hands before she starts her independent life…

And that is how I feel about my new crochet sweater pattern – I would like to give “an early bird price” (44 % off the price) to active crocheters who cherish my patterns, love them, start crocheting them right away and don’t let them lay months and years in their online library (or forget them on an older computer). I want to see this baby grow, and that’s my way of showing love to these crocheters.

People buy hundreds of patterns because they look lovely, and they don’t finish them because they see other lovely patterns :)). Some crocheters like to support designers this way, but I don’t live from selling patterns. The early bird price minus all Paypal and Etsy fees does not cover one cup of cappuccino in my local café (and probably in yours too :)), so prices for crochet patterns are really peanuts. I really enjoy seeing your completed projects, that is why I offer motivating CAL processes.

The best way of supporting pattern designers is crocheting their patterns and not buying them in tonnes :).

That is also the reason of why I don’t give discounts on multiple patterns – I want to save your money and not lengthen your never-ending queue of patterns :).

I offer two price options:

$4.75 – early bird price for those who start crocheting right away and share photos of their WIP (price for CAL in September-October 2019)

$8.50 – normal price for those who collect crochet patterns in their library and never share their WIP photos (price from October 2019)

Prices are subject to VAT in some countries.

Design elements:

This project will be worked in the round without seams. The raised back and bust darts create a better fit, while the stretchy fabric will feel like a second skin. This sweater is designed without a humpback that is so common in circular yoke sweaters.

GARNET: Dress or Top

Elegance should be enduring, it should transcend fashion and trends and focus on something that is beautifully eternal. This pattern is written to bring out your feminine proportions, even if they are somewhat hidden :). This Garnet Dress or Top will suit girls and women who, like me, have broad shoulders, thin arms, rectangular body type, not well-defined waist, a small tummy (or none at all) and who want to make a wearable crocheted piece. This tutorial offers instructions for making adjustments to your figure (if you are smaller or taller), create an off-shoulder garment, or finish it with more covered neckline. Instructions for crocheting more solid rows at bust level are included.

Design elements:

  • Raglan decreases create an optical illusion of smaller shoulders comparing to classical round yokes that look best on narrow-shouldered women. Broad shoulders and thin arms are covered with small cup sleeves made simultaneously with front and back (without cutting off the yarn for crocheting each sleeve).
  • Raised back neck gives more comfortable fit, while accented waist creates more flattering and feminine silhouette.
  • This project is worked seamlessly in the round, in two directions: from bust towards the neckline, then from bust towards the hem. It allows to choose the best fit for your bust and desired coverage at neckline (while you would need to decide about neckline-coverage right away if you crochet the whole garment from the top down).

The dress crochet pattern is provided for sizes

S with bust circumference 80-86 cm (31.5-34’’);
M with bust circumference 90-96 cm (35.5-38’’);
L/XL with bust circumference 100-106 cm (39.5-42’’);
XL/2XL with bust circumference 110-117 cm (43.5-46’’);
2XL/3XL with bust circumference 120-127 cm (47-50’’).
Hips circumference is calculated as 10-15 cm (4-6’’) larger than bust; width of the dress around waist and hips can be adjusted as you go.

The sample shown is 142 cm (56’’) long, you may omit or add rows to adjust the length.

this pattern is written for stretchy yarn like silk, rayon, bamboo, soya, or tencel; 4 ply (UK), Fingering-weight, 1 or Superfine (USA), approx. 330-370 m in 100 gr (360-405 yards per 3.5 oz).

For the close-fitting dress you will need from 2400 to 3550 yards, depending on the width and length. For top of the length 50 cm (19.7’’) you will need from 850 to 1270 yards.

AMBIANCE ORIGAMI: Sweater Crochet Pattern – published!

I don’t want to challenge conventions of beauty and create something ill-fitting that swamps the body and uses enormous amount of yarn. So, even if every catwalk seems to show oversize and awkward looking chunky knits I prefer wearing more proportional and comfortable clothes. Especially if they are oversized :).

And I’m very happy that regardless of this trend for strange-looking fashion, my oversize top became popular on http://www.lovecrochet.com  – I see it regularly among their hottest tops. Yea, I finally published several patterns there :).

Or maybe it’s because it’s dressier and sharper than a conventional tee and people love timeless appeal? 🙂

I suggest to crochet it in white because

  1. White tops are hot weather appropriate, they make any outfit look crisp, modern and fresh.
  2. They are great if you are tired of darker winter garments and want to lighten up.
  3. White tops look perfect with lots of other colors, they are wardrobe essential for any style.

UNQUESTIONABLE – Crochet Dress Pattern

This crochet dress pattern is perfect for those who look for something easy, seamless, and something that can be adjusted to your own figure for the best fit. The upper part is my crop top (I named it To Crop or Not To Crop Top – Question?) that I could not stop crocheting until it ended at my ankles :).

The skirt falls from the waist, wrapping around the hips and widening to create a beautiful flow and drape. The neckline is modest, scooped with a feminine crochet design around the edge. One button at the back allows for a secure fit around your shoulders.
