TRANSFORMATION of patterns: Dress, Top or Skirt?

What about the world of crochet patterns? How a few stitches gave birth to a whole collection of 10 crochet patterns 😊. Let’s talk about TRANSFORMATION!

1. The first project was this top with oval motif that I’ve made by looking at photos of one ready-made-garment. I liked the oval motif very much, but my completed top looked a bit childish – little wing sleeves, a loop with motifs along the bottom – those are all elements from garments that I could wear as a child (cute, but now I prefer to be taken seriously :)), so the transformation began…

2. I removed the sleeves and the loop of round motifs and introduced a skirt with the same stitch pattern as in my top. The new dress looked more serious, more wearable, but the low waist, the straight skirt and all the proportions reminded me of 20-ies style…

3. Let’s turn it into a stunning maxi dress with another matching stitch pattern! But what else will be matching here? I shall somehow multiply this single row of shells. I couldn’t find any existing shell-stitch pattern, so I’ve improvised :). Not bad, right? The only issue is adjusting the placement of the oval for women with a smaller torso because the oval can’t be placed lower than it’s on me (I’m 175 cm = 5’75”). No way of describing such an adjustment in a few words and draw charts for each height :)). So, this dress pattern is recommended for tall women.

4. These shells are pretty, right? And actually they can make a perfect summer skirt? Sure! And the knee-length skirt is ready! What about maxi skirt? Yep! It’s one of my most popular skirts by the way :)).

5. Off-the-shoulder fashion was in time. Can we just add the off-the-shoulder part to my skirt? Easy-peasy. It’s also one of the simplest patterns, beginner friendly.

7. My bestseller dress (and the dress with the most completed projects) has derived from the previous top. That’s why it was named unQUESTIONable. The length is fully adjustable, the waist can be started earlier, the pattern-repeat is easy and quite intuitive and the join of rows is invisible (that’s probably what experienced crocheters pay attention for – join of rows and seams should be really impeccable in any handmade item so it looks as a professionally-made garment).
