My own figure is far away from ideal hourglass woman’s shape – wide waist (the difference between hips and waist is less than 20 cm/7.8”), small bust, thin arms, broad shoulders, small hips with protruding bones at low waist and all these assets would look even more pathetic if I’d wear a wrong tight fit crochet dress :). Therefore I’ve modeled this dress in a way that girls with my type of figure can look gorgeous.
I have removed leaves at the sides present in this dress to define my waist even more. The curved lines are especially flattering and make the silhouette breathtaking: it highlights the best features of woman’s figure – underlines bust, optically defines waist and widens towards the bottom with proper increases for hips.
This project is crocheted from top down, starting at neck and working in the round to form neck opening and the beautiful leaf yoke. You can model your own mini or maxi dress as the top-down construction makes it possible to try it on as you go for the perfect fit. The skirt length can be adjusted; this skirt pattern is quite easy to remember.

What suits women with the rectangle body shape:
- Anything flowy in the bottom will look very elegant and soften your boyish frame.
- Anything that is nipped at your waistline or right below your bust (empire waist or triangle patterns – narrow under bust and widening towards your hips ).
- Avoid wearing belts if you have no waist at all.
