Detour Sweater: Crochet Pattern

***

You gave birth to a baby and you want her to be in best hands before she starts her independent life…

And that is how I feel about my new crochet sweater pattern – I would like to give “an early bird price” (44 % off the price) to active crocheters who cherish my patterns, love them, start crocheting them right away and don’t let them lay months and years in their online library (or forget them on an older computer). I want to see this baby grow, and that’s my way of showing love to these crocheters.

People buy hundreds of patterns because they look lovely, and they don’t finish them because they see other lovely patterns :)). Some crocheters like to support designers this way, but I don’t live from selling patterns. The early bird price minus all Paypal and Etsy fees does not cover one cup of cappuccino in my local café (and probably in yours too :)), so prices for crochet patterns are really peanuts. I really enjoy seeing your completed projects, that is why I offer motivating CAL processes.

The best way of supporting pattern designers is crocheting their patterns and not buying them in tonnes :).

That is also the reason of why I don’t give discounts on multiple patterns – I want to save your money and not lengthen your never-ending queue of patterns :).

I offer two price options:

$4.75 – early bird price for those who start crocheting right away and share photos of their WIP (price for CAL in September-October 2019)

$8.50 – normal price for those who collect crochet patterns in their library and never share their WIP photos (price from October 2019)

Prices are subject to VAT in some countries.

Design elements:

This project will be worked in the round without seams. The raised back and bust darts create a better fit, while the stretchy fabric will feel like a second skin. This sweater is designed without a humpback that is so common in circular yoke sweaters.

AMBIANCE ORIGAMI: Sweater Crochet Pattern – published!

I don’t want to challenge conventions of beauty and create something ill-fitting that swamps the body and uses enormous amount of yarn. So, even if every catwalk seems to show oversize and awkward looking chunky knits I prefer wearing more proportional and comfortable clothes. Especially if they are oversized :).

And I’m very happy that regardless of this trend for strange-looking fashion, my oversize top became popular on Etsy  – I see it regularly among their hottest tops. Or maybe it’s because it’s dressier and sharper than a conventional tee and people love timeless appeal? 🙂

I suggest to crochet it in white because

  1. White tops are hot weather appropriate, they make any outfit look crisp, modern and fresh.
  2. They are great if you are tired of darker winter garments and want to lighten up.
  3. White tops look perfect with lots of other colors, they are wardrobe essential for any style.

This crochet sweater requires minimum of shaping because front, back and sleeves are worked as the same 4 parts and then sewn together. If you already made garments top-down, bottom-up and look for something unusual you might admire this creative idea.

Yarn: Fingering-weight / 4 ply / 310-370 m in 100 gr / 340-400 yards in 3.5 oz, for example King Cole Bamboo Cotton 4 ply.
